Living, Learning & Regenerating in Wilderness
Welcome to Umoya Ridge – a regenerative eco-resort above Wilderness on South Africa’s Garden Route. We blend off-grid living, community empowerment, and immersive nature experiences into one vibrant space for guests and locals alike.

What Is Umoya Ridge?
Umoya Ridge is a 21-hectare living project where hospitality, energy, creativity and farming come together. We offer eco-accommodation, local job creation, and hands-on sustainability in action – powered by sun, soil, and a spirit of shared growth. Whether you’re a traveler, builder, grower or learner, this is a place to root and rise.
Eco Stay
Our Lodge, cabins and earth-toned suites are simple, natural and designed to rest. Views, trails and birdsong included. This is comfort with conscience.
Craft
In our workshop, we work, teach and learn – turning materials into possibilities. It’s not about perfection, but about learning by doing and building with purpose.
Regenerative Farming
We grow food using permaculture principles – with no chemicals, no monocultures, just healthy soil and local resilience. Our gardens feed the retreat and connect us to the land.
Off-Grid Energy & Water
Solar-powered, rain-harvested and heated by hashing: we build circular systems using sunlight, recycled batteries, and creative tech to live cleanly and independently.
Local Job Creation
We hire and train people from the nearby settlement, offering skill-building in farming, construction and resource systems – and a ‘Proof of Work’ certificate after one year.
Food & Gathering
Our farm kitchen serves honest, seasonal meals – grown here, cooked here. We host gatherings, workshops, and sunset picnics with mountain air and good fire.
A starting point
Our journey has just begun, but we believe in doing what we can, where we are, with what we have – and inviting others to do the same. Whether you’re visiting for a night or a season, you’re part of the story.
Come grow with us.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
